Flush (Ear) Muffs For Boat Motors
Author : Efrain E. Silva
Some call these the ear muffs of the waters, but they are technically called flush muffs and are designed for the very motor of your boat. It is crucial to flush out your motor after each and every single time that you ride the waters on that lovely boat, and the reason is that salt water is not the best thing to keep in there. Your boat’s outboard is made of aluminum, and when it gets salt water on it, it’ll kill its aluminum properties and you will see the outboard start to corrode in different ways. The salt water is just not good for it at all, let us say. It can also build up inside, over time, and even cause blockages to your cooling, which you definitely do not want to have to get your hands dirty with later ; prevent the problem from happening, and just flush the motor after each use.
When the water is sandy, dirty, rusty, muddy, polluted ( you get the picture here, right? Ha ha ) , you want to take the time to flush. A flush muff flushes that outboard perfectly, as well, and gives you peace of mind. You can get it online or even in a known marine store like Bass Pro Shops. I recommend the latter as that is one of my favorite places to shop for my fishing and boat needs ( not to mention one of my favorite places to eat as all of their locations seem to have an exquisite buffet that is open during lunch - hour on week days and includes a lovely fish tank that my wife always likes to stare into as she watches the little fishies swim about ) . These muffs are very cheap if you know when to get them and won’t break your bank ; they are also easy to setup. You can even connect your outdoor yard hose to them and just place that muff right above the water intake on your boat’s motor and you are all good to go. Go by where the gear case’s sides are at and just turn things on, letting that engine run ( after you have turned on the power hose and gotten the water going on through, of course ) .
You can also get some flushing bags, which would make a nice add - on type of accessory or extra gift to yourself this next Christmas. These can be made of vinyl or even heavy plastic, in most cases, and definitely help in the process as they can nicely envelope the whole lower end of that motor, fitting around nicely. Anyways, that’s it for this page! Thanks for reading all there was, and if you’re still hungry, read some other posts of ours. We know you are bound to find something good you can use — and more so — share with everyone else whom you know has a boat and is wanting to learn more about its functions or parts. Goodbye, for now!
