Can You Use Any Oil Filter With Synthetic?

Author: E. Silva (aka Mr. Awesome Expert)

When you have synthetic oil, yes —- you can use any kind of oil – filter around. Should you, though? Well, that can be a matter of preference and style ….

I, for instance, like to only use a synthetic oil – filter to go along with my ( 100 % synthetic ) oil, at the end of the day. I just feel that birds of a feather stick better together ( or however the popular saying goes ) . It won’t really hurt you to use a basic filter or a mixed filter, but it’s just proven to be more effective at trapping smaller particles and such to use the same type of filter that complements the car’s current type of oil. But it’s no crime ( and it won’t really hurt your engine life or anything, if that is what you happen to be worried about, he he he he heh ) to use non – synthetic kinds of oil – filters with your synthetic oil.

However, like I said, I prefer to match fully – synthetic with fully – synthetic and keep it that way and speaking of which, here’s a top – brand, fully – synthetic kind of oil – filter you ought to check out further, which I have also written on before : Amazon.com: Purolator PL14610 PurolatorONE Advanced Engine Protection Spin On Oil Filter : Everything Else . It’s just simple, convenient, high – quality, and to me, makes the most sense. I value varying opinions as well, though … we can agree to disagree in any case, no biggie.

Now, then, you should also ( when you have some time ) check out this Bosch Premium one, which I’ve never talked to you about before : Amazon.com: Bosch 3300 Premium FILTECH Oil Filter for Select Chevrolet, Honda, Infiniti, Kia, Mazda, Nissan + More, Black : Automotive

I like it because it’s highly efficient and easy to use, but it only works with select car models ( so make sure you own one of those that are approved for use with it ) . I like it also because it is only $9 and gets you a high – lubricity gasket made to kick butt, as well as some solid, strong steel plates ( on the base, of course ) . Leaks, warpage and other issues are not a problem with this filter either.

Plus, in addition to all that, keep in mind that it also carries one hell of a terrific silicone anti – drain back valve. What do ya think of them apples, huh? Plus, it’s got a nice, dark black shiny look ( that does gloss a bit, too … he heh …. and as you can tell, I am all about a good shine and a product that provides as much “eye candy appeal” as it does value ) .

I hope this helps. Ready to buy? Order one of these filters today!
